Kibble’s ‘bread and butter’, as it were, is child and youth care. One of the goals for creating a child and youth care podcast was for the efficient, and some may say vital, sharing of knowledge.
With that in mind we bring you the first episode of our new child and youth care focused podcast, Reflections on Child and Youth Care Work. We aim to bring you a mix of short one on one interviews with child and youth care professionals, and more conversational podcasts where two frontline child and youth care workers reflect on their experiences and stories of working with service users on a day-to-day basis.
We launch with a very short interview with the editor and administrator of CYC-Net, Martin Stabery. CYC-Net is an extremely useful resource for child and youth care workers, offering an extensive publications library, practice hints and an active community of CYC professionals that are always on hand to discuss the field and the particular challenges that those working in the sector face.
Based in South Africa, the CYC-Net website has been going for a number of years, and in the interview Martin gives a potted history of the site, his experience of running it, and his relationship to the child and youth care sector.
Martin’s knowledge is a good springboard for the rest of our podcast, and an excellent introduction into what CYC-Net is and does. Like this podcast, they too see the sharing of knowledge and practice tips between child and youth care practitioners as key to the development of those that work in the field.
We hope you enjoy the episode.
